To Charlestonians, Sandhurst is a popular neighborhood located in the West Ashey area of Charleston, SC.

When British people think of Sandhurst, they think of the popular Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (1802) of Great Britian, formerly at Sandhurst, Berkshire, now (since 1947) at Camberley, Surrey.

Names like Winchester, Westminster, Rugby, Eton, Seton, Sussex, Durham, Merton, Manchester, Shrewsbury, Edinburgh, are street names in Charleston's Sandhurst.  In Great Britian, these are names of cities, towns, or counties.

Our Sandhurst neighborhood began development in 1959. The original Sandhurst covenants are on file at the Register of Mesne Conveyance Office of Charleston County (Book E68 Page 456). Since that time, there have been numerous ammendments, restrictions and declarations, relating to specific properties. The link below contains a Declaration signed by Ralph Sadler in 1967 (Book K87 Page 291) and a Restriction dated 1961 signed by Jack White (Book O 72 page 46).   The Covenants below were published by the Sandhurst Association in 2010.

These covenants are believed to be accurate and deemed reliable, but not guaranteed. Concerned parties should confirm information at Charleston County RMC office.
